Glad to make your acquaintance

Hello, everyone.  I’m Lana Abston.  The boys have been pestering me now for some time to participate in this blog, but I’ve been reticent.  I’ve been rather enjoying my anonymity, but now I’m feeling like it’s time to move on, to reach out, to stretch out my wings and … and get real.  See, Craig, I do have a sense of humor, despite what you might think.

The truth is, I just couldn’t think of a thing to write about.  As an introduction, let me just say that in the reality we came from I was a DIA agent.  That’s the Defense Intelligence Agency, in case you didn’t get that.  But no more. Actually, I’m glad to be shed of those responsibilities.  They’ve let me choose pretty much whatever I want to do since I got here, other than spending a little time as an instructor for … well, I can’t really talk about that.  Not yet, anyway.

My grandmother was Greek, and she was quite the cook.  My grandfather’s brother (my great uncle) married a woman named Miriam, from Lebanon, where they made their home, so my grandparents made frequent trips to visit them. My grandmother was not one to be shy, and she made many inquiries into the cooking styles. Soon, the Greek and Lebanese recipes were being freely exchanged in a virtual concert of international cooperation.

My grandmother passed many of those Lebanese recipes down to me, and it will be my pleasure to pass some of them on to you.  That will be my contribution to this blog. I won’t mention the Greek recipes, since there are plenty of places to get Greek food.  For now, Craig has lost a bet we made that he would never have to retract a blog post, and he owes me a barbeque dinner.  See ya!
